About Today’s Giveaway…

What up, guys, it’s Nate. Today I want to introduce you to a guy I’ve known for 17 years – my college roommate, Jon. He gives just as much as Jay and I do, he’s super smart, and he lives and breathes comics. Today he’s giving away something pretty amazing, and he’s also going to be working with us to launch our first spinoff site, Take Our Comics, dedicated to giving away awesome comic-related stuff each week.

Hey Everyone – The name is Jon and I love comics. I’ve been reading comics for the last 27 years and I’m so ecstatic that the characters I grew up reading are now some of the most popular icons in film and television. The only thing that makes me sad is that there aren’t more individuals reading comics and enjoying the amazing stories that these films are based on.

So to get more people to pay attention to the wondrous world of comic books, I’m giving away one my own prized books:

This milestone issue is the beginning of a brand new X-men squad, and the first appearance of Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird. This is also the issue where Wolverine joins the X-men. Prior to this issue the X-men was a failing comic that was on hiatus for 5 years. Then this issue came on the scene and it has spawned countless comics, animated series, multiple movie franchises and Hugh Jackman’s career.

If you are a comic fan this is a must-have for any collector. If you know nothing about comics but want an amazing piece of pop culture history, this is also the item for you. A near mint copy goes for over $1,000 (my copy is a lower grade, but still highly sought after).

I love this comic but I want others to see how special the world of comics can be and maybe this can be the gateway comic for someone.

Also included in this gift package are 2 recent comics that are must-reads for anyone who likes great storytelling and art. Marvel Comics has been going through a renaissance period these last few months and has relaunched their entire line of comics with all new creative teams and story arcs.

These new titles are extremely reader friendly and are some of the best comics out right now. They also have cool extra content when you use the Marvel AR app from your phone or tablet.
